ewl

(2024)

Description

The ewl platform project involved an extensive user interface with over 30 modules and more than 120 content pages. A key goal was to optimize ewl’s internal workflows while creating a user-friendly front end for customers. Due to the vast range of ewl’s offerings, our research first focused on thoroughly understanding their entire portfolio—including energy supply and production, customer choice of electricity products, drinking water treatment, and network connection. It was essential to grasp these complex services before presenting them clearly and logically to users. In a subsequent release, I also designed and developed the interface for an online shop where customers can purchase internet subscriptions.

The client aimed to comply with the AA accessibility standard. Although some compromises were necessary—especially since the logo and corporate colors did not fully meet contrast requirements – the interface was designed to be highly accessible, functional, and easy to use. Another important aspect was translating ewl’s print-based corporate design into a digital format. Particular attention was given to creating a coherent visual logic that works well with the flowing shapes in the digital medium. Because the platform required numerous forms, we developed a logical design system: only one simple and one complex form were designed initially, serving as templates for about 20 additional forms, ensuring consistency and efficiency across the platform.
